Fun Ways to Celebrate Father’s Day With Your Loved One

Father’s Day 2020 is coming up quickly. Let Milestone Retirement Communities help you get a head start on planning. Here are a few great activities you and Dad can bond over to make his big day special. Anything that means spending quality time together might just be the best Father’s Day gift of all.

Games!

Games are a great opportunity for quality time. Pick Dad’s favorite – be it cards, a board game, or even an online game – and lay down a challenge! There’s nothing quite like bonding over a little friendly competition. Even if you can’t be there in person during these uncertain times, if Dad is tech-savvy, you can set up a FaceTime or video chat with your software or app of choice for a little virtual playtime.

Go for a Walk

A little time outdoors is good for the soul. If you’re lucky enough to have access to your Dad during the coronavirus outbreak, seek out a trail and go for a socially distanced stroll. The fresh air and spirited conversation will mean a lot to him. Not lucky enough to be near Dad right now? You can still make it work. Tee up a FaceTime or traditional phone call and invite him to join you for a walk as you talk.

A Fishing Trip

Fishing is a time-honored tradition enjoyed by fathers, sons, and daughters everywhere! There may be some coronavirus-related logistics to navigate depending on whether or not you and Dad are socially isolating together. If you can make it work, though, there’s nothing better than a laid-back day at the river or lake.

Music or a Movie?

Pick Dad’s favorite music or movie and watch it together. If you and Dad are musically inclined, you could even have a mini jam session. This is another one you could make work from a distance if you have to. If you want bonus points for creativity, you could even set up a TV outside on the deck or lawn and watch together from a safe distance.

Simple Story Time

Everybody loves to reminisce. Sit down with Dad and quiz him about some of his favorite stories. He’ll enjoy talking about the past, and you’ll gain a much clearer picture of your dad’s past and family history. You can even record those stories with apps like Life Story Press, MemoryWell, or OneDay.
